NADHALAYA ACADEMY is a training institute for aspiring percussionists who dream of becoming one of the many legends of Mridangam.

The students at NADHALAYA ACADEMY, are trained in a thorough and professional manner under the able guidance of an expert tutor in Palghat P. Sharad .

He has been conducting classes for many students in and around his residence. He established the Institute for the art of learning percussion on 14th April 2019 in the name style “NADHALAYA ACADEMY”.

The main objective of this Institute is to train aspiring Mridangam students with in the targeted period and to groom their talents so that they become professional musicians.

The master wishes to establish his guru’s style of teaching and lessons so that all aspiring percussionist get the best possible training. Palghat P. Sharad is the founder of Nadhalaya Academy.

Engineer by education and career his passion for music especially Mridangam has made him start this Academy Learning Mridangam from School days at Chinmaya school Sharad started developing a passion for percussion instruments especially Mridangam. Sharad learnt initially from Smt. Thanjavur Padma d/o eminent Mridangam artist Shri Pillu Rao and his arangateram was in the year 1998 at Bharathiya vidhya Bhavan Mylapore when he played for Scholar Shri Thiruvenkadu JayaramanInnumerable concerts/programmes after that at all leading Sabhas functions temples.He was awarded 'Laya Bhaskara ' for best Mridangam artist byVaigal Gnaskandan Trust

Pavithra Sharad is a passionate Keyboard artist and Harmonised both for performing and teaching.

She learnt harmonium initially for 7 years from exponent Mrs. Helen Sweety from the age of 10 , fine tuned by Shri Srinivasa Rao later.

Hailing from a family of renowned carnatic musicians Smt. A. Vedanayaki , Smt. Lakshmi Suryanarayan both All India Radio artiststs and Smt. Rajam Pushpavanam music exponent from grand parents lineage, Pavithra learnt continuously at home from her grand mother Smt Lalitha Ramachandran apart from tutors outside.

Pavithra Sharad has been on the stage since school days
participating in various competitions programs winning prizes for self and her educational institutions. She has to her credit many youtube presentations for Aadhara Shruti channel Nadhalaya academy etc.

A confident and capable musician Pavithra handles programs and teaching efficiently.

Having got married recently to Palghat P. Sharad Mridangist, Pavithra's music career continues with full support from spouse and his family.

Pavithra is for expanding her teaching circle by inducting more students for harmonium and Keyboard. Apart from basic training she is more interested in fine tuning carnatic keyboard harmonium students.

In today’s fast-paced world, children hardly find time for activities that are not part of their academic curriculum. One of the main reasons for this is after spending the entire day at school , children find it tiring to travel to different places for attending classes such as Carnatic music, mridangam etc . Also it puts additional burden on the parents who may be working for long hours and have to arrange transport for their children to attend these classes.

Keeping these factors in mind, the mentors of NADHALAYA ACADEMY have decided to make optimum use of technology by offering classes online by means of video-conferencing sessions .The students who reside in far-away places can opt for these online training sessions from the comfort of their living rooms.

This is how it works:
The master will allocate specific timings for students opting for online training.
The students are expected to be online at those times and they will be able to interact with the master via Video Call and undergo training for the entire duration of the session.
The students can also clarify their doubts with the master during these sessions.

Since these training sessions are highly interactive, the students can be assured that they are experiencing the same level of training that they would get if they had been in the premises of NADHALAYA ACADEMY. In addition to that, the master will personally visit the students periodically if they are residing in Chennai.
